July 30, 2026
On July 29, Teekay Corporation and Teekay Tankers released Q2-2026 earnings results.
Teekay Tankers delivered a historic quarter, achieving the highest every quarterly adjusted net income in the company’s history, driven by exceptional strength in the spot tanker market. This momentum has continued into the third quarter, with Suezmax rates remaining near record levels and Aframax rates strengthening in key markets.
Market strength was driven by significant disruption in global oil and tanker markets following the events in the Strait of Hormuz. As the situation continues to evolve, we remain committed to prioritizing the safety and security of our people, vessels, and operations while navigating a dynamic market environment.
During the quarter, we continued to execute our fleet renewal strategy through the acquisition of two Korean-built Suezmax newbuildings scheduled for delivery in 2027 and the strategic sale of older vessels. We also integrated the three Aframax tankers acquired earlier this year into Teekay’s technical and commercial management, strengthening our exposure to the robust spot tanker market.
Although the near-term tanker market outlook remains complex, unpredictable, and subject to significant influence from geopolitical events, we believe Teekay Tanker remains well positioned with a modernizing fleet, strong cash flow generation, and financial flexibility to create long-term value for shareholders.
