Teekay offices all over the world volunteered and contributed in charitable events that uplift the children in our communities.
It may be in the form of a simple item or an elaborate fun filled event, but our Teekay volunteers and donors put in all their efforts in making sure we put a smile on children’s faces.
First, Singapore joined the National Library Board’s Read for Books campaign where our staff committed to reading books to support a nationwide initiative. We ended the event with a simple donation and received reassuring words from the NLB, “Teekay’s donation will directly put books into children’s hands!“
Singapore then continued the annual Book Drive in partnership with Project Dignity. With their Dignity Mama enterprise, books were donated to their stalls and Teekay also sponsored books to be donated further to other children’s charities. As per Dignity Mama, “We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for Teekay’s generous contribution to our Company’s social mission programs managed by our Dignity Mama stalls which are operated by mothers with their Special Needs Children. Please know that your contributions will have significant impact on the lives of these individuals and their families in our community in Singapore.”
Singapore also donated and organized a fun caricature learning event with the team and kids of Epworth Foster Care and Epworth Home Sweet Home. Kids and adults tried their very best to learn and have fun along the way and the event was capped with a 5-star rating by our happy “customers.”
In Mumbai, the team gathered all their pre-loved clothing items to support the Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust. With the team’s generosity, the donated clothes will now reach vulnerable families through Ratna Nidhi’s Garment Distribution Project. Families, especially children, are expected to benefit from this donation drive the most.
Finally in Vancouver, our long held tradition of working with Variety BC for Boat for Hope was not missed this year. Our Teekay volunteers helped to put on an incredible nautical-themed event and created an unforgettable day filled with fun, adventure, and inclusion to complete a special day for children with special needs. This year, one of our volunteers’ son tagged along and shared his perspective “The Boat for Hope is a fun event for special needs kids who get to experience a very exciting and memorable pirate themed treasure hunt, both on land and at sea! When I went there, I was a volunteer helping the families and kids register for the boat ride. I really enjoyed the experience of helping people and also helping the kids and I am looking forward to going again next year!”
At the end of it all, our teams and families walked away with valuable learning, new experiences, and a smile, hopefully just as wide as the children’s smiles that day.
