Meet J. Torben Karlshoej, the man behind the founder and first CEO of Teekay. Torben passed away on October 3, 1992, at the early age of 50. With footage taken from old Karlshoej family movies, his brother and current Director and Chairman Emeritus, Axel Karlshoej, friends and current Teekay Board Members Thomas Hsu and Bjorn Moller, and former Teekay Executive Art Coady recount their personal stories of Torben.
With the recent naming and launch of our newest gas vessel the Torben Spirit, we remember his passion for shipping and people which has left an enduring legacy at Teekay. His character and the strong culture he created is as strong today as it was when he was alive.
