In the last week of May, the Glasgow weather was warm and sunny in welcome to 50+ Teekay Gas seafarers attending the annual Glasgow Gas Seafarer conference. Participants came from near and far across Europe, and a few from Asia too, to catch up on the many Teekay Gas projects underway. Conference sessions on safety – of course! – and operational leadership were followed by updates on new technology like the MEGI engine vessels and upcoming growth projects like Yamal. There was also time to talk about recruitment and Marine HR issues, IT infrastructure and collaboration tools. Talking of technology and progress, the team visited a wonderfully restored tall ship at the Glasgow Riverside Museum – and the seafarers reflected on how far the industry has come in raising standards of safety and well-being. The overall conference theme was Teekay Family. We are all in this together – ship and shore teams. We need to communicate and understand different perspectives if we are to succeed in our never ending journey of operational leadership. The conference helped us come together and to move forward.
