These awards are “Dedicated to the crews, for their commitment to their fellow mariners at sea – THAT NO CALL FOR HELP GOES UNANSWERED.”
Recently I had the pleasure of attending the AMVER award ceremony on behalf of Teekay. AMVER (Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System) is sponsored by the United States Coast Guard. It is a unique based and voluntary ship reporting system used worldwide by search and rescue authorities to arrange for assistance to persons in distress at sea. With AMVER rescue, coordinators can identify participating ships in the area of distress and divert the best suited ship to respond. The AMVER Awards Program was inaugurated in 1971 to recognize those vessels which regularly participate in the AMVER system. The AMVER ceremony was held on March 20th, 2015 in Singapore, and awards were presented to the vessels participating in AMVER reporting. The AMVER Award Ceremony was hosted by the Singapore Shipping Association and the United States Coast Guard for Singapore ship owners and managers. I was invited by Capt. Mukund Sharma (Director, Marine and Technical Services) and Capt. Pradeep Kale (Director, HSEQ) to attend the award ceremony along with them. These awards are “dedicated to the crews, for their commitment to their fellow mariners at sea – THAT NO CALL FOR HELP GOES UNANSWERED.”Awards Received
