On May 8th, we celebrated 48 years of bringing energy to the world and reflected on our SPIRIT values that continue to guide our culture and organization.
Every year on our anniversary, we reflect on what it means to have #TeekaySpirit and how our values of Safety & Sustainability, Passion, Integrity, Reliability, Innovation and Teamwork continue to shape our path as a leader in the maritime industry.
We could think of no better way to commemorate this year’s anniversary than by celebrating the incredible work of our colleagues around the globe. We called on our global Teekay family to nominate colleagues who embody our SPIRIT values and to share stories about each nominee’s work.
With more than 300 submissions from across the organization both at sea and on shore, selecting our 2021 SPIRIT Champion was no easy task. After much consideration, three colleagues were selected as Champions for each SPIRIT value. Our inaugural SPIRIT Champions were announced by our Senior Leadership Team during a global livestream, with each leader presenting and highlighting the selected Champions from each category.
We would like to take this moment to send our heartfelt congratulations to all nominees, nominators, and SPIRIT Champions. Thank you for upholding and living our SPIRIT values each and every day.
Without further ado, here are our 2021 SPIRIT Champions!
Safety & Sustainability Champions
These individuals put safety first and look after fellow colleagues to ensure everyone gets home safely. They consider people, planet and profit in all decisions and actions; and contribute to a sustainable business, environment, and community.
Passion Champions
This category calls for individuals who bring energy and enthusiasm to their roles. They balance hard work and fun and take pride in doing a job well. They strive to make a difference every day with our colleagues and customers.
Integrity Champions
Our Integrity Champions are individuals who are open and honest, and lead by example. They also build trust with others and are consistently doing the right thing and in the right way.
Reliability Champions
Reliability is all about doing what we say we will do. These nominees have high standards and deliver quality results. They build enduring customer relationships and solutions while holding themselves and others accountable and follow through on their commitments.
Innovation Champions
When going through uncertain times as we have over the past year and a bit, we have had to lean into our core value of Innovation to find new ways to get our work done in the face of challenges and restrictions.
Our Innovation Champions consistently seek and promote new thinking and ideas. They support change and encourage others to do the same. They look for ways to be ahead of the curve and to create value added results.
Teamwork Champions
Our Teamwork Champions work together with others and promote a spirit of cooperation. They encourage diverse perspectives, and they value the opportunity to listen and be listened to. They help others be successful, and by doing so, they help Teekay be successful.
