“Incidents don’t knock on your door before happening…”
As part of our ongoing Operational Leadership journey, we have implemented the Operational Leadership Award. The award is designed to recognize and reward people whose positive environmental, safety and leadership behaviors exemplify those expected of Operational Leaders. This quarter AB Cutin Nicasio was nominated as the Safety Champion of Team Lynx. Congratulations! The Blackcomb Spirit nominated AB Cutin for this award as he is an experienced and disciplined member of the ship team. He believes that “Incidents don’t knock on your door before happening, so we have to be prepared and ready to deal with any situation.” He is consistently proactive on safety matters, shares his ideas, and makes all efforts to enhance safety onboard. He actively participates in drills, meetings and tool box talks and always comes up with suggestions to the team to improve safe working onboard. During a fire drill onboard, he observed one of his colleagues was going down to the Engine Room without following the correct hand rail technique. He immediately stopped him and showed him the correct procedure and later explained to him the possible consequences of his actions. His efforts are commendable and will surely motivate others in putting similar efforts to ensure safety. Way to go Cutin. Keep up the Teekay Spirit and Safety First!
