Ready to Get Teekay’s First MEGI Vessel Up and Running to Revolutionize the Concept of LNG Ships…
We are proud to introduce the first senior officers to join Teekay’s first MEGI LNG newbuilding, Creole Spirit: Capt. Kochumalayil along with Chief Officer Kovacic, Chief Eng Purmalis, Cargo Engineer De Gennaro, 1AE Poosaipathi, and ETO Loncaric. The team has been living in Geoje of South Korea while performing the important task of supervising the last phase before Creole Spirit enters service in January 2016. Capt. Kochumalayil joined the gas fleet in 2014 through our cross training program. He never thought he would become a seafarer when he graduated in Mechanical Engineering. However, what started as a wish to travel the world turned into his career and passion. He commented, “the life of a seafarer is always dynamic, every day there is a new lesson and a new experience!” Creole Spirit is currently being built at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard. Few weeks ago, the vessel departed for sea trials and Capt. Kochumalayil was joined by some Teekay veterans who have developed almost their entire career with Teekay. The team is sure ready to get Teekay’s first MEGI vessel up and running to revolutionize the concept of LNG ships. Here are some photos!
