HAMILTON, BERMUDA–(Marketwire – Nov. 11, 2009) – Teekay Corporation (Teekay) (NYSE:TK) is pleased to announce that Graham Westgarth, President, Teekay Marine Services, was today elected Chairman of INTERTANKO – the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners.
Captain Westgarth has been an active member of INTERTANKO’s Council for the last nine years, has sat on the Executive Committee since 2006 and was previously elected Vice Chairman in 2009. More broadly, he has over 38 years of industry experience including 17 years at sea. As President of Teekay Marine Services at Teekay Corporation, Captain Westgarth is responsible for Teekay’s large fleet of owned and technically managed vessels, as well as over 5,500 staff at sea and onshore. The INTERTANKO Chairman is a non-executive position and Captain Westgarth will maintain his current role at Teekay.
Upon his election, Captain Westgarth spoke of the honour in taking on this representative role for the tanker industry. “INTERTANKO works extremely hard to ensure the voice of the industry is heard amongst all its stakeholders. About Graham Westgarth
Graham Westgarth joined Teekay in February 1999, and as President of Teekay Marine Services is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Teekay fleet. Graham’s mandate includes newbuildings, conversions, repair and maintenance, manning and training, procurement, marine, and most importantly, health, safety, environment, and quality of our fleet. He has over 38 years of industry experience, 17 of which were at sea, including five years command experience. Prior to joining Teekay, Graham spent 12 years with the Maersk Company heading up its UK flag fleet. During this period, he established and was the general manager of AP Moller’s FPSO operations in the UK sector of the North Sea. In 2006, Graham relocated to Norway for 8 months following Teekay’s acquisition of Petrojarl ASA, and as interim CEO, successfully led the company and integrated it into Teekay. Graham has held a number of Board positions over the years, has completed the Columbia Business School Senior Executive Development Program, and is currently a member of the INTERTANKO Executive Committee.
