In early April Mumbai hosted yet another seafarer conference for officers in Teekay’s conventional fleet. The three-day event was filled with presentations, breakout sessions and opportunities for exchange of knowledge, experience and learnings that help foster the One Tanker Team initiative.
Beyond getting to know each other a little better and having some fun, interesting and valuable work was done. Teams exchanged some ideas about changes they would suggest to bring them closer to their goals and how to operate the best ships in the world.
For the first time in history, Safety Officers were invited to deliver a presentation on the importance of their role as well as receiving support from crew and shore teams. Attendees also heard from the Finance and Commercial team about Teekay’s perspective on the market and Teekay Tankers place in it. Other presentations covered current operational and marine HR priorities such as vetting, navigation focus, importance of hazard identification, fuel management and more.
Once work was done, families joined and participated in the cultural night where traditional dances, crafts and food from India were showcased. Everyone’s Teekay Spirit was evident as they joined the dance floor to show some Bangara moves and sang along with the music band. Don’t miss out the video and photos of the conference below!
