Hosting meaningful fundraising events in our industry can transform support into real impact, making essential medical aid possible for those in need.
Our Houston team, along with our industry peers hosted the 1st annual Mercy Ships Houston Soiree, building on the success of a similar event in Geneva. Mercy Ships, through the Africa Mercy and Global Mercy hospital ships, provide people with life-changing treatments in areas that do not have access to safe and affordable medical care.
Teekay, through the TK Foundation has a long history with Mercy Ships, providing technical training for the crew since 2007, and in 2018, donating $5 million toward the construction of the J. Torben Karlshoej Bridge onboard the Global Mercy.
Hosted in the SPIRIT of improving people’s lives, this year’s event was attended by 280 guests across the American shipping community, and raised over $300,000, which will be matched through contributions from partners in Mercy Ships UK, bringing the total raised to over $600,000.
We are proud to be a part of the many firsts, and we are always looking forward to contribute and advocate for a good cause.
