Millions of Syrians Have Registered or Are Awaiting Registration With the United Nations
On September 22, 2015 the Teekay Trondheim office organized a donation drive destined for Amadia International. Amadia is a Norwegian Non-governmental Organization (NGO) who aims to help children around the world. View their English Facebook page. For the past few weeks, stories and images of the Syrian migration crisis unfolding on the shores of Europe have been flooding the media. Syrians fleeing a civil war have been taking on treacherous journeys across the Mediterranean and into Greece where most hope to find better odds. For those who do make it across, harsh conditions await as resources are strained and services are minimal. Noting this lack of access to necessary goods, staff from the Trondheim office organized a donation bank and were successful in completely filling up the company car with household items – going as far as giving away hand-knitted carpets. The initiative put together by the team in Norway is a great reminder of the impact we can have around us. A swift, efficient and Teekay Spirit-filled project. Congratulations Teekay Trondheim!
