On May 6 Sertanejo Spirit was officially welcomed at the Rio harbor in Brazil. More than a hundred guests from BG Group and Teekay joined the naming ceremony including President of Teekay Shuttle and Offshore Services, Ingvild Saether, and godmother of the vessel, wife of CEO of BG Brasil, Marina Silva.
Sertanejo Spirit is one of our new Samba Class shuttle tankers to operate for BG in Brazil under 10-year time-charters. The high-spec, DP2 shuttle tanker is designed for offshore loading and is more efficient and eco-friendly than any of her predecessors. Read more details in the Samba Class fact sheet.
Each vessel of the Samba Class (Bossa Nova Spirit, Samba Spirit, Lambada Spirit and Sertanejo Spirit) was named to reference the Brazilian culture and lifestyle. Sertanejo is a classic music style that had its origins in the countryside of Brazil in the 1920s. And of course, the vessel name is followed by Spirit which remarks our values – Teekay S.P.I.R.I.T.
