This week, Eileen Mercier, a Teekay Corporation Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee, was named to Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the Accenture Corporate Directors category. This award honours the incredible talent of Canadian women at the very top of their chosen fields. Congrats to Eileen on this prestigious award! Eileen Mercier, Chair, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan
Eileen Mercier’s career spans 40 years of general management experience in the forest products, financial services, integrated oil and communications industries. In addition to being a former senior vice-president and CFO at Abitibi-Price Inc., she has held senior positions at Gulf Canada, Canwest Capital and TD Bank. From 1995 to 2003, she ran her own management consulting firm, Finvoy Management Inc., specializing in financial strategy, restructuring and corporate governance issues.
Mercier is one of Canada’s first female professional directors. In 2007, she was appointed chair of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, a board she has been on since 2005, and she also sits on the boards of CGI Group, Intact Financial, Teekay Shipping. and the University Health Network. Mercier has an MBA from York University and an MA from the University of Alberta. She is a fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and the Institute of Corporate Directors and was awarded an honorary doctor of law degree from York University.
