Every year, the Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA) presents their “Commodore” award to a person in the international maritime community who has contributed to the growth and development of the industry. Earlier today, Peter Evensen, Teekay’s President and Chief Executive Officer, was named as the Connecticut Maritime Association Commodore for the year 2013.
Responsible for Teekay’s innovative daughter company structure (comprised of Teekay Tankers, Teekay Offshore and Teekay LNG), Evensen has introduced new strategies around asset purchasing and development and diversification into Teekay’s traditional conventional tanker shipping business. Working as CEO, and Chief Strategy Officer before that, Evensen’s approach has successfully grown Teekay Corporation into new, profitable business areas like the LNG and offshore energy markets.
“Mr. Evensen and his team around the world at Teekay have created a brand which has consistently served its customers, people and investors brilliantly, ” said Ian Workman, President of the CMA. “We have watched the industry struggle through a difficult market, yet Teekay has thrived through the downturn, demonstrating leadership, creativity and delivering value.”
The Connecticut Maritime Association is a non-profit organization built by its members for its members. It is an Association made of individuals representing every aspect of shipping and international trade.
