Teekay Works With Noble Energy For An Extended Well Test In West Africa
October 11, 2013
On July 26, Teekay signed a time-charter contract with Noble Energy Inc. to prepare and mobilize the shuttle tanker Scott Spirit for an Extended Well Test (EWT) at The Diega field in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa. The vessel went on-hire the day after and arrived in Luba Freeport at Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea, August 16, for clearance.
Scott Spirit is connected to the semi-submersible drilling rig Atwood Hunter by a 600 meter loading hose to test and verify reservoir permeability and flow capabilities of the well.
Scott Spirit is one of the eco-friendly vessels from the Explorer Class. Due to the specific nature of the crude at the Diega field, no other tanker could carry out the same operation without significant upgrades. So far, the vessel has been operating on dynamic positioning (DP) for weeks demonstrating her overall capabilities in such operations. Scott Spirit is demonstrating that both the vessel and her crew have managed to take on the challenge of operating alone, far away from home and in challenging areas.
The vessel will stay on-hire until she is re-delivered, cleaned and ready to trade in her primary market as DP shuttle tanker in the North Sea sometime primo December, 2013.
