The Yamal Project Is Expected to Produce 16.5 Million Metric Tons of LNG Annually
In July 2014, Teekay LNG Partners L.P (TGP), through a 50/50 joint venture with China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited (China LNG), announced the shipbuilding contracts for six internationally-flagged icebreaker liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for the Yamal LNG Project. The home-base of the project is located on the Yamal Peninsula in Northern Russia.
These LNG vessels represent a $2.1 billion investment and the project is expected to produce 16.5 million metric tons of LNG annually which represents a big impact for future global LNG supply.
Numbers aside, carrying out a project of this scale requires a team of experts. Step forward the Teekay Gas Yamal project team – one that knows how to work hard but also have some fun!
